Edward: What are your alternatives?
Skye: Just saying no.
Edward: And telling him to go to Hell, huh?
Skye: Yeah, that would be satisfying, yes.
Edward: Sure, for the first 30 seconds or so. Is that what you really want, Skye? After what Jax has done to you, flying off to Paris to be with another woman and give her jewelry while he expects you to work hard at night in his club? Why the club of all offers he could make to you?
Skye: He has this peculiar notion that I'd actually enjoy it.
Edward: Or maybe he realizes that you would be busy at the club every night, bowing and scraping to the drunken clientele. And that would give him time to squire other women around the town. Shouldn't you want to exact a revenge of a more painful, longer-lasting nature, hmm? You've been playing your part beautifully, dear. Now is not the time to back out.
Skye: I refuse to force myself night after night to be nice to a bunch of obnoxious, inebriated patrons.
Edward: Well, it's a small-enough price to pay for such a huge prize. Think of it as a challenge.
Skye: It's demeaning.
Edward: Well, I'm sure Jax thinks of it as a compliment.
Skye: Incredibly, he does.
Edward: Well, then just plaster a smile on your face and think about all of Jax's betrayals. He lied to you. He flew off to Paris and he gave a diamond necklace to another woman. Now, look, you deserve a payback that will bring that man down to his knees for all the humiliation that you have suffered at his hands.
Skye: Oh, I do. But, come on, there's got to be a better way.
Edward: Look, the silly club manager's job would give you a proximity to Jax, give you an opportunity to thank him over and over for all his help and support.
Skye: I'm not that good of an actress.
Edward: Oh, come on! Your acting skills are among your greatest talents. Just look, just picture the look on Jax's face when he finds out that his empire has vanished, when he realizes that your kisses were all lies and that you were the one who engineered his downfall. Huh? Use that image, dear, as you convince Jax that you love him with all your heart.
------------------------------------------
Sonny: Carly did not embezzle money from you.
Jax: She took $100,000 from the club. I have the accounting to prove it.
Sonny: Anybody could doctor books.
Jax: Sonny, this is serious.
Sonny: You know what's happening here, Alexis, as well as I do.
Alexis: Do you?
Sonny: Your client set Carly up.
Jax: No, Carly did this to herself.
Sonny: How long have you been planning to turn the tables, Jax? Ever since Carly came to you for help?
Alexis: Sonny, Jax is telling the truth.
Sonny: She came to you for financial backing, and you just saw your chance. She wanted, you know, to make a success out of herself and you reeled her in, got her to trust you, let her do all the hard work at the club, complimented her, told her how good a job she's doing, and then when she finally was proud of herself, you shut her out!
Jax: You suspect that she really did it, don't you? Otherwise, you wouldn't be so wound up.
Sonny: You pretended to be her friend as well as her partner. You were just waiting for your chance to stick it to me! Am I right?! No?
Jax: Paranoid, as usual.
Sonny: Oh, paranoid? Yeah. You're going to tell me your involvement in the club has nothing to do with me, Jax?
Jax: Oh, no, it has something to do with you. See, Carly wanted a chance to get out from under you, so I thought, you know, she deserved that.
Sonny: Like she deserved an accusation of embezzlement?!
Jax: Yeah, it would make it a Hell of a lot easier to pin this on me, wouldn't it? But you can't. You see, this is what happens to women when they get involved with you. They do things they never would've dreamed of doing before, because you drag them down, you destroy their self-confidence. It's the same old story, they give, you take.
Sonny: Is that why you're part of this?
Jax: No, Alexis is my attorney as she has been on previous occasions. This has nothing to do with you.
Sonny: Yes, it does! Something's changed.
Alexis: Jax has proof that Carly took money out of the club account.
Sonny: This is about manipulation. He's using Carly to get to me. How can you be part of that?
Alexis: There is no personal motive here on Jax's part or mine.
Jax: Look, I have security measures in place that pick up irregular transactions. This was easily traced back to Carly. You're welcome to check the books yourself if you like. And my guess is that she wanted to keep the transaction secret. The reason for that is none of my business, I don't want to know. My goal is to make sure it doesn't happen again.
Alexis: Jax asked me to end this quickly and quietly.
Jax: You know, you should be thanking me for not sending her to jail.
Sonny: I don't want to hear about this again.
Jax: Yeah, neither do I, so the subject's closed.
Sonny: Carly decided to back out. I'd tell her to fight, but, you know, being partners with you is a no-win situation.
Jax: Yeah, it is when you're dishonest.
Sonny: You know what? Carly may have bought your good-guy act, but we both know better. You're going to use her just like you're using Alexis right now. But she's a lot smarter than that, Jax, so, right? [to Alexis] Right? [when she doesn't answer him, Sonny leaves angry] Ok.
Alexis: I'm surprised you're throwing Carly out of the club so fast.
Jax: Why? You think I should give her a second chance?
Alexis: Considering that you are, rather were, friends.
Jax: Carly has plenty of other people in her life that give her second chances, and a third and a fourth. I have no intention of falling into a bottomless pit.
Alexis: I hate to break it to you, but you already did.
Jax: No, I didn't. No, I gave her a chance to prove herself. Now it's over. Carly can't be trusted.
Alexis: And this is news?
Jax: You know, I thought she would change, that getting away from Sonny would somehow be a step in the right direction.
Alexis: Was Sonny right? Did you finance this club to get back at him?
Jax: Why do you ask?
Alexis: I'm not judging you, I'm just, just asking.
Jax: Yeah. Helping out Carly gave me great satisfaction because I knew it would stick it to Sonny. But the success of this club is owed to her.
Alexis: So you're not going to reconsider tossing her out?
Jax: Carly doesn't seem to be able to get away from Sonny. I mean, they, they twist the truth, they lie, they make excuses for the havoc they wreak.
Alexis: True.
Jax: I mean, look at, look what Carly has done. She took $100,000 from the club for I don't know what reason, I don't really care, and she didn't breathe a word of it to Sonny.
Alexis: And he will find some way to forgive her.
Jax: Well, you know, that's his business. I don't really care about that.
Alexis: You know, for what it's worth, I think you did the right thing, except for the part of giving the job of club manager to Skye.
Jax: Well, actually, I'm thinking about giving her the whole club.
Alexis: Are you serious?
Jax: About Skye? Yes, I am.
Alexis: You serious about Skye?!
Jax: Yes, I am.
Alexis: The same Skye Chandler-Quartermaine who subscribes to the "hit first, ask questions later" philosophy? The same one that's left a swath of destruction from here to Pine Valley and back? The one that's got a chip on her shoulder the size of Montana?
Jax: And a heart to match.
Alexis: She's drugging you.
