Jax: Again, I've taken you by surprise. That's not an easy task, by the way.
Skye: Just when I think I had you all figured out.
Jax: Where's the fun in that?
Skye: Jax, are you serious? This, this isn't your idea of some incredibly unfunny joke?
Jax: This isn't a question I throw around lightly, Skye. I love you. I want us to spend the rest of our lives together. I am asking you to marry me. And if it takes you longer than five seconds to decide, four, three, two, one...
Skye: No!
Skye: It's probably best if you keep this.
Jax: I have no use for it. It's your necklace. Am I allowed to ask why you're turning down my proposal?
Skye: How far are you willing to take this?
Jax: Look, I'm sorry if this is too sudden. I, I apologize. But I thought you understood that I was serious about you.
Skye: I can't marry a liar, ok?
Jax: Now, where in the world did that come from?
Skye: Oh, God, you're good. Look at that face, so surprised, so wounded. Well, you lied to me, Jax, all right? That so-called Australian business trip? Well, I know for a fact that you were in Paris with some hootchie who was wearing the same necklace that you're trying to palm off on me right now! What's the matter? She didn't like it? Huh? Or is it not the same as her wearing it without you in her bed?!
Jax: Skye, stop!
Skye: No, don't tell me to stop! And don't you dare try to deny it because I called your hotel room in Paris and that bimbo answered the phone, all right? And since you've been back, you haven't even come this close to telling me the truth and I've given you every opportunity!
Jax: Skye, the woman is Celine Dubois. She's a jewelry broker and an old family friend.
Skye: Well, I don't understand.
Jax: No, obviously, you don't, which is why you should've asked. Look, I didn't tell you I was going to Paris because I wanted the necklace to be a surprise. You flipped over it in that auction catalog, and I knew that you would remember the date, and if you knew that I was in Paris, you would've, you would've known what I was up to.
Skye: Yeah, but you came back and you still didn't give it to me.
Jax: I was waiting for the right moment, and there was a flaw in one of the diamonds. Celine had to have it replaced. What, you don't believe me? Then call my mother. You trust her.
Skye: My God, Jax, I, I don't know what to say.
Jax: I could've cleared this up a long time ago if you would've told me what you thought you knew. But, no, no, you would rather try to catch me in a lie.
Skye: Jax, I am so sorry. Oh, God, I've been such an idiot. Why, why did I ever listen to Edward?
Jax: Edward? What does he have to do with this?
Skye: Grandfather never lets up, you know? He's, he's always on me constantly, always going on and on about your big rep as a ladies' man and how the only way you'll close a deal is in a vulnerable woman's bed. He says that it's a pattern and that I'm just next in your long list of conquests.
Jax: You know, Edward tries to undermine my faith in you, too. But I choose not to let him. So why would you? You know perfectly well that he's always working an agenda.
Skye: You say that with such confidence. See, that's the difference between us, Jax. You're so sure of yourself. You never doubt your instincts. Me, I'm always so busy trying to protect myself that I never have anything left over to learn how to trust, you know, I mean, to really trust. And I want to do that. I really do. What I want to do that more than anything in the world, is to trust you, Jax.
Jax: Skye, listen to me. Listen to me because I'm going to tell you this one last time, why you are the best thing that has happened to me in a very long time.
Jax: It's true. Our family experiences were completely opposite. I was lucky enough to go
out into the world confident in my abilities. But that didn't protect me from loss. I wasn't sure that I was ever able to love again after I lost Brenda. I wasn't sure I wanted to. But then you barreled into my life, irritating as all hell, driving me insane with frustration one minute and sheer delight the next. A whirlwind of a woman who made her way inside my heart and didn't let go. Well, I'm not letting go, either.
Skye: But, Jax, marriage?
Jax: Yes, marriage.
