Edward: This moment will go down in history as the beginning of the end of Jasper Jacks.
Skye: Well, you know the old saying, history is made at night.
Edward: Well, no, I don't know that, but I like it. It's about time a woman beat that Aussie Don Juan at his own game. You were able to find out what Jax is offering for Treycon with no problems, huh?
Skye: Not one, and I have the exact figure.
Edward: Good. I'll come in higher in the morning.
[Skye looks up and sees Jax in the doorway]
Edward: So what's he offering? Skye? Skye, you there? Hello?
Skye: You ready?
Edward: Of course I'm ready. I thought I got cut off.
Skye: I need 10 cases of your house draft.
Edward: Oh. Jax is there, hmm?
Skye: That's correct. I need 10 cases exactly.
Edward: Or you're trying to tell me something. There are 12 bottles in a case, right?
Skye: Right.
Edward: 10 times 12, that's 120. That means that Jax's opening bid is 120 million, right?
Skye: That's correct. When can I expect delivery?
Edward: Well, we can have your two-timing pirate bankrupt by the end of the fiscal year.
Skye: Oh, I'm afraid that's not good enough.
Edward: Well, you hold up your end and he'll be panhandling on Courtland Street by Fall, if not before.
Skye: Well, if that's the best you can do, but if you can do it sooner, all the better.
Edward: Well, I'll set the ball into motion right now.
Skye: Good. Thank you. Oh! I thought that you were sleeping.
Skye: Well, I plan on making nightclub history, and the club is a nighttime operation.
Jax: You know, you seem strangely electrified over just a liquor order. There's something else going on, isn't there?
Skye: Hey, if I'm strangely electrified by anything, it's your lips.
Jax: Over the years, I've learned to trust my instincts, and they may have been wrong where you're concerned. Was it a mistake to hand you a club when you're a recovering alcoholic?
|
Skye: No. No, it wasn't a mistake. Being around booze doesn't tempt me. Now, setting unattainable goals and not failing, now, that, that tempts me. But thanks to you, I have an attainable goal. Something to make me feel like I'm in control of my life, a way to show what I can do. I owe you.
Jax: All right.
[Phone rings]
Skye: Oh, don't, don't. Don't get it. Tell them you're busy. Let your voice mail get it.
Jax: This is Jax. Yeah. Yeah, I can be there in 20 minutes. Right, I'll see you then. Business. I have to take care of this. I promise I'll be back as soon as I can. I promise. All right?
[Jax goes to change and Skye pretends to fall asleep on the couch, when he leaves she quickly follows him out the door]
----------------------------------------
[Skye tracks Jax to the Grille and sits at a nearby table to spy on him]
Jax: So your average cost is 12. 12 from 20, times a million, that's one hell of a payday for one deal.
Claire: Hmm, it's not the 8 million that I'm interested in. I have a policy that a brilliant deal deserves a brilliant close. There's a bottle of Dom in my hotel suite and a spectacular view of the river. Shall we close this one on the 10th floor?
[Skye strains to hear Jax's answer to Claire's proposal]
Waiter: I'm afraid we have a party of five...
Skye: Shh! Quiet!
Waiter: ...a party of five waiting for this table. I can seat you at the bar.
Skye: Look, I will pay you for a party of five, all right?
Waiter: The other party has been waiting patiently. I'm afraid I can't allow you to stay here. If you don't move, I'll have to summon security, which would undoubtedly cause a scene.
Skye: All right.
[She moves to the bar, but she can no longer hear Jax's conversation]
Jax: Look, Claire, you're, you're a beautiful woman, but I'm in a committed relationship, so I'm going to have to decline all but the business portion of the evening.
Claire: Lucky woman. Look, I have those specs that you were questioning in my room. So if I promise on my honor to control myself, will you come back and look at them so we can close?
Jax: No champagne.
Claire: Understood.
Jax: Ok. Let's go.
[Skye watches Jax leave with Claire and assumes the worst]
