Jax: You seem awfully quiet. Is something bothering you?
Skye: No. I just think maybe, maybe you shouldn't go to this fundraiser tonight.
Jax: Well, I, I do it every year.
Skye: I know, but Kristina just died. Losing her was a big blow for you.
Jax: Yeah. Thanks for noticing. But the fact is, life goes on, and we must keep up.
Skye: You're right. You're right. I guess it wouldn't be so bad to try and be a little celebratory in honor of Kristina.
Jax: Yeah, that's the spirit.
Skye: Well, to that end, I would like to wear the necklace that you gave me. Would you mind getting it out of the safe?
Jax: Why don't you grab it? I left my watch in the bedroom.
Skye: I don't know the combination.
Jax: 3-1-5-0.
[Jax leaves, Skye searches for the map and is stunned when she can't find it anywhere in the safe]
Jax: You're not wearing the necklace. Did you have trouble with the combination? I'll get it.
Skye: [she quickly distracts him] Jax! I've changed my mind. Look, I, I can't go with you tonight. I thought that I could, I could tough it out, but I, I can't.
Jax: Tough it out?
Skye: Yeah, I've had this, I've had this raging headache all day, and it's turned into a full-fledged migraine. Really, I, I thought that I...
Jax: Oh, you get migraines?
Skye: Yeah, I do. Not very often, but maybe once or twice a year. And the best thing for me to do is just to go lay down in the room, lights out, and just, just ride it out.
Jax: Doesn't sound like much fun.
Skye: Who are you calling?
Jax: I'll make arrangements for someone else to present my donation so I can stay here with you.
Skye: Oh, I can't ask you to do that.
Jax: Well, you're not asking me to do it.
Skye: Jax, come on, it's just a magnified headache, really. I will survive. Now, that, your appearance tonight at that fundraiser will generate lots of money, and I know how much the charity means to you. Really, I know this is hard for you to believe, but there really isn't anything that you can do for me. I love you dearly for it, but if you didn't go, I'd feel guilty. And that guilt would add stress, and my headache would get even worse.
Jax: I get the point. Well, at least let me get you settled.
Skye: Oh, I'd love that.
Jax: Come on.
Jax: You want me to get you a blanket?
Skye: No.
Jax: You sure? I'll be back as soon as I can.
Skye: Oh, please do.
Jax: Ok.
Jax: Bye.
Skye: Bye.
[Jax leaves and Skye grabs the phone]
Skye: Grandfather, you'd better get your butt over here to the lake house immediately, or all bets between us are off!
[Later]
Edward: Well, I assume we're alone. You know, I am so pleased with your ingenuity. Not only were you able to get Jax out of the house, but you've managed to get me that all-important oil site map. Where it is, hmm?
Skye: Cut the bull, you prevaricating, conniving old thief!
Edward: Whoa, whoa, whoa. What kind of talk is that?
Skye: Oh, stop scamming me, Grandfather! We both know that you hired somebody to come in here and steal that...
Edward: No...
Skye: ...stupid map. Now, you're pretending that I've got it?! What is this, another test with you?
Edward: ...now...
Skye: When do these games ever stop?!
Edward: I'm warning you. I don't know what it is you're trying to pull, but it won't work!
Skye: What I'm trying to pull?!
Edward: Yes. You are pathetically transparent. You've convinced yourself that you are in love with this Aussie snake, and now you want to back out of our deal.
Skye: Hey, you got it right the first time. Look, I faked a migraine to get Jax out of the house, all right? No easy task, I assure you, so I could look for that stupid map! But you beat me to it, didn't you, Grandfather?
Edward: I don't know what you think you're doing, Skye, and frankly, I don't particularly care, but this is clear between us. I have a contract, signed by you, agreeing to betray Jax in return for being named the sole Quartermaine heir. Now look, lady, you give me the map, or I will show that contract to Jax, and you will be left with nothing!
Skye: Grandfather, this is for real! I'm not lying. I have no idea where that map is!
Edward: Then who the hell does?! You blew it, Skye! You have dallied much too long and now that map is missing.
Skye: I had to pick my moment.
Edrd: You did a damn poor job of it. Don't you realize that Jax will be able to amass a fortune with those oil wells? And he'll be able to control ELQ without even breaking stride. Unless, unless I can create a diversion that will distract him and make him take his eyes off the game.
Skye: Like what, she asked with creeping dread?
Edward: Like his lovely fiancee is a backstabbing spy and a would-be thief. You know what I think I'll do? I think I'll just stay right here and I'll tell Jax all about our plan, huh?
Skye: Grandfather, you do that, and we'll both be out in the street selling pencils. Now, you are not seeing the big picture here. That is so not like you. You will end up with nothing, too, you know?
Edward: Ha!
Skye: Except the momentary satisfaction of trashing my relationship. My God, when did this happen to you? When did the most ruthless CEO in the country turn into some scared old man ready to pack it in when he suffers a minor setback?
Edward: Minor?
Skye: Hey, you turned Myta-Tech around when Wall Street said it was dead. Dorlan Properties, I mean, the list goes on and on. No, this situation can be managed. All it requires is for you to use the same cool confidence you used to make ELQ what it is today. Huh?
Edward: Well, you make a point. So, I will give you until the night of your engagement party to deliver me that map. Otherwise, I'll show the contract to Jax.
Skye: But, the engagement party is Friday.
Edward: Well, then you'd better hop to it. As they say, time's a wasting.
-------------------------------------------
Alcazar: Do you have what I asked for? [Roy hands him the map] This appears incomplete.
Roy: Yeah. It'll make more sense once you get the other half. Not to worry. The price isn't too steep. Not for a man of your means.
Alcazar: What's this about, Dilucca?
Roy: It's about another half mil, in those thoughtfully unmarked bills you keep lying around.
Alcazar: You're playing a dangerous game.
Roy: It's in the air. You threatened to frame me for an explosion I had nothing to do with. I'm a fool if I don't take steps to protect myself.
Alcazar: Money doesn't necessarily guarantee protection.
Roy: That's true, but it sure makes the time pass easier. Once you use me to get whatever it is you want from Sonny and Jax, I intend to have something to show for my trouble.
Alcazar: You're turning out to be quite the businessman.
Roy: I try.
Alcazar: I'll give you the money.
Roy: Excellent.
Alcazar: This time. Don't push me too far.
Roy: Wouldn't think of it. I know exactly how to play your game.
-------------------------------------------
[Door opens]
Skye: Hey. You're back early.
Jax: Yeah. Got out of there as fast as I could. How's your headache?
Skye: Better.
Jax: Yeah? Good. Well, I got one little piece of business to attend to, and then I'm going to spend the rest of the evening making you feel even better than that.
Skye: Hmm. [she sees him start towards the safe] Oh, Jax, you know, sometimes there's a little spot here between my shoulders, if you rub it, it makes the headache go away.
Jax: Right here?
Skye: Yeah. Ooh. You're so incredible.
Jax: Well, I haven't done that much.
Skye: You've done so much more than you know. For me, anyway, a cynic who couldn't trust anyone or believe in love.
Jax: I knew you weren't that tough.
Skye: That's my point exactly. You knew. You saw it when nobody else could. I'm not going to lose you, Jax.
|
Jax: What about your headache?
Skye: Ooh. Just be gentle with me, all right?
Jax: I'll be right in.
Skye: Well, what are you doing?
Jax: I just have to check on a wire transfer. It's kind of a deadline thing.
Skye: Well, hurry.
[Skye leaves, phone rings]
Jax: This is Jax. Dad. Sure. Yeah, I'll look at the map. I'll, I'll get back to you first thing in the morning. Well, your timing could be better, but, no worries. I'll call you back in a few.
[Jax opens the safe and looks frantically for the map, but can't find it]
Jax: Skye? Skye?! [Skye comes from the bedroom] Did, did you go into the safe while I was gone?
Skye: Jax, why would I go into the safe, unless it was to get my necklace?
Jax: Well, I don't know. I thought maybe you wanted to try it on or something.
Skye: Oh. A pounding headache isn't really conducive to dress up, so, what's wrong?
Jax: The Canadian oil site map is gone.
Skye: Gone? How is that possible?
Jax: Someone must have stolen it.
Skye: Jax, I swear to you, I'm telling you, I swear on my love for you, I did not take that map.
Jax: You? Skye, Skye, I would never even think that you would do anything like that.
Jax: This is, this is serious, Skye. You know, if I don't get that map back, my family's in serious trouble.
-------------------------------------------
Alcazar: There's been a minor delay. I have part of what I need to move on Jax in my possession. The rest will be provided in a day or so. Once I get it, be prepared to move right away.
[After Alcazar has left, a mystery woman sneeks into the office and steals the map from his desk]
